At the meeting, Secretary Gao Fan introduced the basic situation of the college, as well as the purpose of this trip. She said that the School of Public Affairs & Law of Southwest Jiaotong University is a liberal arts school under the background of engineering schools. The school relies on the transportation characteristics of Jiaotong University and enjoys a strong momentum of development in recent years. However, it still needs to learn from other colleges and universities in the specific practice of combining party construction with disciplinary characteristics. Party Secretary Song Youliang answered Party Secretary Gao Fan's questions one by one based on the practical experience of the School of Public Affairs of Xiamen University. He said that the discipline of management is a wide-caliber discipline and a sunrise major in China. The basic logic of professional development is that the political language becomes the academic language and the practical governance strategy. Deputy Secretary Yu Xiaoying and Deputy Secretary Lin Shengquan had an in-depth exchange on the combination of students' ideological and political work and discipline construction. Deputy Secretary Lin Shengquan said that the purpose of education is to train qualified builders and reliable successors for the cause of socialism, so we must figure out who to train and how to train people. The School of Public Affairs of Xiamen University takes ideological and political courses as the main starting point, constructs a multi-subject professional education system with full coverage and multi-level professional education system, constructs campus classes and social classes, relies on the practice base, enables public governance to serve regional development, and realizes the transformation of case stories to ideological and political education system.

Then, Mr. Yuan Zhi, Secretary of the Party Branch of the Political Science Department of Xiamen University, had an in-depth exchange with Mr. Xia Lu, Secretary of the Party Branch of the Political Science Department of the School of Public Affairs of Xiamen University, about the development of Party members of the Teaching Science Branch and the construction of professional disciplines. Xia Lu said that the work of the Party Branch of the Political Science Department of the School of Public Affairs of Xiamen University in Party member development and discipline construction can be summarized as one point, two lines and three aspects. It always takes the Party building as the guide and conducts professional training for students with master's and doctoral degrees through teaching and scientific research.
