With May 4th Youth Day around the corner, in order to commend the advanced, select the typical representatives and encourage all the youth in the university to strive for success, on the afternoon of April 29, Southwest Jiaotong University held the commendation meeting of the Communist Youth League in 2022 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Youth League of China with the theme of “ Celebrating the Party Congress, Paying Tribute to the 20th National Congress of CPC and Forge Ahead in a New Journey”. Wang Shunhong, Secretary of the CPC SWJTU Committee, Gui Fuqiang, Deputy Secretary of the CPC SWJTU Committee, Zhang Xuelong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Secretary of Discipline Inspection Commission of SWJTU, Yang Aihua, Deputy Secretary of the CPC SWJTU Committee, Yao Faming, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of SWJTU, He Chuan, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of SWJTU, Shen Huoming, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of SWJTU, Kang Guozheng, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of SWJTU, Liu Changjun, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of SWJTU, and other leaders of the related units attended the conference, and the heads of school league organizations at all levels, representatives of young staff, youth representatives of league members and representatives of award-winning teachers and students participated in the conference. In the commendation meeting, Wang Shunhong, Secretary of the CPC SWJTU Committee heaped praise upon the achievements made by the Communist Youth League on behalf of the Party Committee of SWJTU and President Yang Dan, congratulated the award-winning groups and individuals, and sent warm holiday greetings and best wishes to all young teachers and students. In the speech, Mr. Wang reviewed the splendid history of the Chinese Youth Movement under the leadership of the CPC and hoped that the youth of Southwest Jiaotong University, pandering to the trend of the times, could devote themselves to the historical waves of the Chinese Youth Movement to write the glaring chapter of Southwest Jiaotong University into the centennial party history. He pointed out that, as socialism with Chinese characteristics entered a new era, General Secretary Xi Jinping’s thoughts on youth work have opened up a new realm for the youth work of the CPC, providing the fundamental basis for the reform of the Communist Youth League and youth work. Besides, he put forward three expectations for all league members: first, with firm ideals and principles, you should follow the steps of the party and cultivate your own political character so as to devote your dreams to the cause of the party and the nation; second, you should hone your abilities and enhance physical fitness and shoulder the historical mission so as to devote yourselves to the historical rejuvenation of Southwest Jiaotong University; third, you should translate the independent thinking into practice so as to become a youth who dares to think and work, dares to win and dares to stand out.

In the commendation meeting, Yang Aihua, Deputy Secretary of the CPC SWJTU Committee announced the “Decision of the Southwest Jiaotong University Committee of the Communist Youth League on Commendation of the Work the Communist Youth League in 2021”. The School of Public Affairs and Law obtained all the awards recognized by the Communist Youth League in 2021, achieving a grand slam! Students working group of the School of Public Affairs and Law was awarded the title of first “Southwest Jiaotong University Youth May 4th Medal Team”, which was the only student working group in the univeristy winning such a title; the Communist Youth League of Committee of the School of Public Affairs and Law was awarded the title of “May 4th Red Flag Youth League Committee of Southwest Jiaotong University”; The League Branch of Class 2, 2019, Public Administration was awarded the title of “School-Level Demonstration League Branch of Southwest Jiaotong University”; The League Branch of Class 1, 2020, Master of Public Administration, the League Branch of Class 1, 2019, Master of Law, and the League Branch of Class 1, 2020, Master of Political Science and Administration were awarded the titles of “School-Level Demonstration League Branch of Southwest Jiaotong University”; Postgraduate Association of the School of Public Affairs and Law was awarded the title of “Top Ten Student Union”; the youth volunteer association of the School of Public Affairs and Law was awarded the title of“ Top Ten Youth Volunteer Association of Southwest Jiaotong University”; Cadres Zhang Xiaodan, Secretary of the Communist Youth League Branch of Class 2, 2019 of Public Administration, was awarded the title of “Top Ten Communist Youth League Branch Secretary of Southwest Jiaotong University” ; The title of “Excellent Communist Youth League Cadres of Southwest Jiaotong University” was given to 68 cadres including Wang Lin; The title of “ Excellent Communist Youth League Member of Southwest Jiaotong University” was given to 86 cadres including Wang Dahai; Cadre Xu Mengying was honored the title of “Self-Improvement Star of Southwest Jiaotong University”. The leaders participating in the conference presented the certificates to the commended team and individual representatives.

The Communist Youth League of Committee of the School of Public Affairs and Law insisted on strengthening and improving its work in the new era. The core of its work lay in upholding the leadership of the CPC, and the key lay in giving full play to the main role of youth league members. It will hold the working tone of “stressing politics, being strong in leadership, promoting learning, being happy in service and setting an example”, rely on the practical education system of “one center, two-way expansion, and tripartite coordination” and endeavor to enhance the capabilities of the organization, leadership, service, and overall contribution.

The Communist Youth League Committee of Southwest Jiaotong University has been honored the titles of “National May 4th Red Flag Youth League Committee”, and “May 4th Red Flag Youth League Committee of Sichuan Province”, and awarded the National Bronze Award and Gold Award in Sichuan Division in the “Fifth China Youth Volunteer Service Competition”, fulfilling the “zero breakthroughs” in the school history. Three social practice teams are commended in the national “three rural areas” social practice activities, and the Communist Youth League cadres of the School of Public Affairs and Law have succeeded in applying for the key issues of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and smoothly finished them. The School of Public Affairs and Law has been awarded the honorary title of “May 4th Red Flag Youth League Committee” for 13 consecutive years.
