Sino-foreign cooperative education program (2+2  dual degree for economics) is established by School of Public Administration (SPA) in Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU) and School of Business in George Mason University (GMU).

       George Mason University has made outstanding achievements in the field of economics.  GMU is the only one university which has two Nobel economists (James Buchanan in 1986 and Vernon Smith in 2002) in Virginia and economics in GMU ranks amongs the top 30 nationally in recent years.

       The first class of 2+2  dual degree for economics entered SPA in the fall of 2013. There are 28 students in this class. In the first 2 years, students in this class should complete some basic course in economics and get more practice in english. After they pass the examines, the students will tranferred to GMU to complete course works and graduation repuirements at GMU. Graduates in this program will be offered 2 degrees in economics, from SWJTU and GMU.
