Philosophy has been taught at SWJTU for nearly 100 years. The Institution of Philosophy is a diverse and vibrant unit actively contributing to the teaching and research of the University. It has about 6 members of teaching staff, mostly teaching postgraduate students major in philosophy. The Institution of Philosophy offers the Master. philosophy degree. The Institution has research strengths in three areas: applied ethics, philosophy of science and social-political philosophy. In the past few years, the Institution has made a significant commitment and contribution to SWJTU's new general education program, offering over 5 courses on applied ethics, comparative philosophy, history of western philosophy, theories of social justice, philosophy of art. Nowadays, More than 60 dissertations and 10 books have been published by the faculty.
