Located in Chengdu, Sichuan, the land of abundance, Southwest Jiaotong University is a key university directly under the administration of the Ministry of Education and has developed into an engineering-highlighted multi-disciplinary university incorporating science, management, economics, liberal arts and law. It is also one of the first national key universities approved for???211???key construction projects. Besides, it is the first in Southwest China and one of the 6 universities that are certified for excellent undergraduate education.
With a history of 110 years, SWJTU has established a complete higher education system consisting of undergraduate, postgraduate, doctorate, continuing education and distant education programs, which forms an integrate talent training system of bachelor-master-doctor-postdoctor. There are over 7000 postgraduate students in the School of Graduate, including over 1000 doctoral students. Other students total more than 60000.SWJTU has a high-qualified teaching staff with 3 academicians of Chinese Academy of Science,2 of Chinese Academy of Engineering and 169 tutors of doctorate student. There are also 1961 teachers in the university, over half holding senior title. There are 18 colleges and schools, 7 key disciplines of state level and 17 of provincial and ministerial level. Besides, there are 8 first-level and 55 second-level disciplinary programs that are authorized to confer doctor degree,132 programs that are authorized to confer master degree and 7 postdoctoral stations.
The School of Public Administration of SWJTU is the youngest in this hundred-year old university. It is an important base for training specialists in administrative management, social administration, urban administration, public works management, and technology education management. It is a multidisciplinary application-oriented research school demonstrating its own features.
The school???s objective is to train high-qualified interdisciplinary senior middle management personnel for governments, public institutions and other non-governmental and management, administration, research, secretary ship, consultation, planning, investigation and statistics collection in Party and government organizations, non-governmental and non-profit organizations, press agencies, public institutions, large & medium-sized enterprises and social associations. And further they will improve the management and efficiency of governments at various levels and achieve maximum public interests.
The school has a doctoral program of Public Works Organization and Management, six master programs including Administrative Management, Social Security, Educational Economics and Administration, Public Works Organization and Management, Technological Philosophy and Ethics and first-level undergraduate specialties of public administration.
